I had no idea that so many of my students had never been properly trained on washing their hands or brushing their teeth. We watched a video and read a book about washing hands, and they tried again. They were shocked at how much time they needed to spend washing hands. The same is true for brushing teeth. They tried it, saw how much \"plaque\" was left, and we watched a video and read a book about brushing teeth. They tried again and had much better results. My students are very enthusiastic about the new seating arrangements in the classroom. The donations have provided us with more comfortable and flexible seating options.\r\n\r\nI use the seat cushions to avoid sitting on hard plastic chairs for more than six hours a day. These same cushions are also used as sit spots during small-group activities. My students have really enjoyed having different seating options throughout the day.\r\n\r\nI also had to establish a calendar with all of my students to determine which days they can use my flexible chairs, since so many students would like to use them. The plastic cubbies are the perfect way for students to organize their papers and at the end of the day, they empty their cubby and bring their treasures home! I have them color coded with their pictures as some of my young learners do not yet recognize their names.\r\nThe spiral notebooks are all ready for the students to begin creating their letter animal masterpieces! We will be using the notebooks all year long to create an animal that is relatively the shape of the letter and students will also practice writing the letter. This activity is spectacular for developing fine motor skills as the students are cutting, gluing and writing.\r\nThe plastic card organizers are essential to keep all of the cards organized for our math curriculum. Now when I need to grab a specific deck of cards, I can easily see where they are and we can get to math learning faster than ever!\r\nThank you so much for supporting our young scholars! All 24 students were actively engaged and quiet while they created their masterpieces!\r\nThe class pack of Crayola markers is just what we needed to start our school year off right. We are celebrating a star student each day and after we look at their name and learn the letters and sounds in their name, children are drawing a picture of the star student to make a book for them to take home!
