My students have a variety of home languages and socioeconomic backgrounds. In our school, Spanish is the language of instruction in the primary grades. As children grow older, there is more academic English taught. The Spanish language is maintained throughout their eight years in school. The majority of my students have limited books in their homes. Each and every one of my students is curious and eager to learn. They are so excited to hear new books and love to relate the content to their own lives.
