Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Women's History Month is celebrated every March. As a Black female educator, I believe it is important to teach my students, especially female students, that they are capable of anything they set their minds to. Learning about women who have overcome adversity, persevered through obstacles, and reached their goals will hopefully inspire and teach my students that they, too, can do it.

Learning through literature and art is engaging and fun!

I am excited to share these stories about influential women in history with my classes during their library story times. The books will be available for all students to check out from the school library. My hope is for every student to see themselves reflected in this story collection, as it includes books with scientists, teachers, students, musicians, artists, cooks, environmentalists, and civil and women's rights leaders.

My goals include students researching inspirational women, teaching classmates what they have learned, and painting artwork to complement their projects.
