Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate enough to work with students across all grade levels. I work with struggling readers and others that need a little more individualized attention. My students come from low-income families and don't always have the resources that they need. This pandemic has been hard on many of my students and their lives have been affected by COVID. Many of my students have experienced some form of trauma in their lives especially during the past few months. Despite all of this, they are great kids!

Working remotely has not been easy for some of my kiddos, but they remain positive and upbeat.

My Project

I read books with my students daily. I truly feel that having a library of rich and engaging books is a must. I plan on not only using these books during Women's History Month, but throughout the entire year. I feel that it is important for ALL my students to see women in a positive light. This will also improve and promote their social emotional learning by giving this positive image.

Exposing my students to women in literature affirms their own beliefs that girls are capable of achieving great things and fosters positive thinking about women achievement.

These books were carefully selected to include women from all walks of life. I want my students especially my girls to understand that anything is possible if you have the courage to keep on going, even when things get tough.
