This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I use board games in my classroom in a variety of ways. Some classes earn points so they can work towards a board game period as a reward. Some students come in on rainy days at lunch to play. Playing board games is also what I teach during Intersession, a day at the end of the semester that students get to try different classes and subjects. I am probably known on campus as the teacher with board games.

Playing board games promotes social and cooperative interactions, practice in explaining how to do something, and all in a fun, slightly competitive manner.

Most students rarely get a chance to play board games, especially with their peers. It is really fun to hear their conversations and see their interactions when they are playing. They learn so much about working with other people.
