Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is the springboard into a student's education. My students are special because, for many, this is their first educational setting. Every child deserves the best education that is available to them.
I teach in a high poverty school in Pennsylvania, with a high percentage of students coming from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Imagine being a new student, in a new environment, separated from your family for the first time, this is the reality for most of the students in my classroom. I want their first educational experience to be extraordinary!
My Project
My students would LOVE to add to our current Hot Dots collection. The students are so excited to use them during our academic learning centers. We love them so much and want to expand our collection to help to diversify the content areas they are learning. My classroom has students with my different learning levels, some of my kindergarten students are on a pre-kindergarten level, while other students are more advanced and moving towards a second level. I also have a high number of ELL (English Language Learners) students that need concrete materials that also gives positive instant feedback.
Hot Dots will allow my students to build learn self-esteem and self confidence because they are learning at a level that is right for them.
Education can not be a one size fits all approach! Our students are the future!!!!
