Teacher Professional Development: I need to attend the ISTE conference. My students need to reimagine learning using technology. They need innovative instructional strategies to tap into their various backgrounds and learning needs. <profdevpilot>
My students need to reimagine learning using technology. They love to learn and are hungry for innovative teaching strategies. Most of them are from families of low income and are qualified for free or reduced lunch.
My students and I believe that technology has the power to transform teaching and learning.
They have had a great learning experience, exploring and grasping Algebra concepts using Desmos, an amazing and free online graphing calculator. Desmos is just one example of many free web-based tools that are great learning resources for students.
My passion for educational technology has rejuvenated my students and restored their love for learning. This year, I was chosen to be a model teacher for my school and was granted a set of 33 Chromebooks through my successful participation at iZone's Blended Learning Institute. With the availability of a one-to-one device along with my passion for Math and STEM, I feel I have a great opportunity to innovate my instruction and enhance my students’ creativity as well.
My Project
I would like to attend the ISTE conference in Philadelphia and add on more innovative ideas to my toolbox. I have already looked up at the sessions and workshops offered at this great conference. One workshop that I am highly interested in learning more about is Google Sketchup, which is a powerful 3D modeling software that encourages students to be creative architects and engineers. Moreover, the conference offers many sessions about innovative ideas for the STEM curriculum that I have been developing at my school.
Last year, I attended the ISTE live conference.
It was inspirational and has changed my vision about teaching and learning. I would love to continue bringing innovative skills to my classroom. Attending the ISTE conference would invigorate my instruction, sustain my students' love for learning and spur their creativeness.
