Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my class are always eager to learn. It is a very diverse classroom. Each student has a unique story to tell and is an important piece of our classroom family.
My students are a community of learners that works hard everyday to learn content through a foreign language.
My classroom is full of diversity, which calls for differentiated instruction and support. They love to listen to a good book, enjoy engaging in reading activities and hands-on activities.
My Project
We use white boards for a variety of purposes such as to assess student learning, and engage all students. These white boards in particular contain permanent baselines to aid in the handwriting process. In first grade, we spent extensive time in correct letter formation and practicing basic routines necessary for school success.
During whole group and small group lessons, students often use the white boards to think of a problem/answer, write it, and then share it.
This is an instant way of gathering information on student understanding of skills and concepts being taught.
These white boards are an essential supply of every classroom.
