Our dual-language Spanish Immersion program invites diversity into our school and classrooms. About half of the student population is composed of Spanish-speaking students. I teach first grade students and at such a young level reading is just beginning to flourish. For students learning a new language, first grade is a fundamental building block. First grade is a crucial year, thus it is necessary to teach student a skill through various means. My students enjoy variety and fully enjoy listening to a good book.
