range in grades from Pre Kindergarten through 6th grade. They come from all different socioeconomic backgrounds; from living without a home to living in mansions on the beach. There is a mix of races and religions and a variety of languages, thoughts, and ideas. But at our core, we are all lifelong learners.
Some of us are surfers and skaters, dancers and dreamers, writers and readers, mathematicians and scientists, thinkers and tinkerers, we code and create, imagine and explore, we make music and we make art and above all, we believe we can make the world a better place.
We believe our differences and diversity will make us stronger. And at school, we practice kindness and understanding.
Some of the students here will grow up to be doctors and some lawyers. Some will be athletes and other movie star celebrities. Others will be teachers and others trade workers. And many will work in jobs that are yet to exist. Students here know that while at the moment they only make up a small percentage of the population, they are 100 percent of our future.
My Project
Each week we meet and sit in Philosophy for Children (P4C) circles where we sit and discuss different issues that are important to us. Students learn to ask questions, share ideas, provide examples, reasons, counterexamples from their lives. Students learn about assumptions and inferences and most importantly to listen to each other and different perspectives.
Whiteboards will help us quickly share our thoughts and ideas along with saving paper and resources.
In our Philosophy for Children circles we learn about the world, discuss different topics and think critically about our thinking. We look forward to our circles each week and learning from one another.
