My Students

I have a class of very excited 2nd graders. My class is made up of 21 diverse learners. The school is a high poverty school in a small town. I am fortunate to have met my new bunch of eager learnings before we went on summer break.

Several of the students are in need of some special tools to help them be successful in the classroom.

I hope that this project will help me get them the tools they need to be successful in their studies and feel confident in their learning.

My Project

My students need a class set of Element Whisper Phones for independent oral reading. This project will help my growing readers to listen to themselves read aloud. The Whisper Phones support independent oral reading. The phones will be used during independent reading times. They will help students hear their own reading while also keeping the classroom volume down while others are reading independently.

Second grade readers learn to be great readers by hearing themselves read!

Some ways the whisper phones help readers include:

*Improvement in reading rates, phrasing, and expression

*Reduction of stuttering behaviors

*More confidence as the child learns to master new skills

*Increased fluency and comprehension

*More excitement about reading
