Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd grade students live in a low socioeconomic area. A large portion of my students also come from a military family where a parent is deployed and absent during their school year. Despite our challenges, I am always striving to find ways to incorporate technology and active engagement in our lessons daily! I want my students to push their limits and experience success while they find enjoyment in the pursuit of it!

My students thrive on interactive learning and seek out positively engaged activities that they can participate in daily.

My Project

I am always looking for ways to positively engage my students in lessons throughout the day! I always want my students to be jazzed about the skills I am teaching every week. Sometimes, this a tough task to tackle! Recently, I have come across the educational website, Flocabulary. It provides educational hip-hop songs and videos that promote positive engagement for lessons throughout the curriculum.

A donation to help me purchase a yearly teacher plan through the Flocabulary website will bring my lessons to life through captivating songs and videos that will tie perfectly to our second grade curriculum!

With the purchase of a Flocabulary plan, students will be excited each week to interact through energizing songs and videos to help introduce a topic, receive further practice or review, or show what they know through an ending assessment featured on the site. Many of the songs and videos are very catchy and fun to listen to, which will make a more meaningful impact in their connection to the materials presented. Included for student use are graphic organizers, classroom decorations to go with skills taught, and interactive text features students need to be able to use consistently when reading. Most importantly, there will always be something to look forward to for the next week's lessons. This will definitely bring classroom jubilation to my classroom! What more could a teacher ask for?
