Where Do I Sit?

My students need a rug for our classroom. Phonics are one of the most important parts of our day and a rug with sit spots would help them know where to sit during this time.

My Students

I am a first grade teacher at a school with students from many different backgrounds. My students are wonderful kids that love to learn! I always like to provide them with many opportunities to learn in ways they may not in other avenues of their lives.

From year to year, I have anywhere from 23-27 students.

My classroom is full of energetic first graders. I encourage a lot of movement in the classroom because I feel like this is a great, engaging way to learn. I like to empower my students to take charge of their own learning and know how they learn best!

My Project

In first grade we love to learn how to read! Part of learning how to read includes lots of explicit time on the rug learning these skills.

It would be so helpful to have a rug where my students would know exactly where they sit so they are more focused for learning.

When it was time to teach reading, students would come to the rug and know exactly where to sit which would save instructional time and help us get right to learning!

Right now they are all spread out and struggle to stay focused because they don't have an assigned spot just for them! A rug would give them this opportunity.
