Help me give my students a seamlessly organized system that will help them access their math and literacy materials without wasting a minute of instructional time!
My students attend one of the largest elementary schools in our state. I have 25 amazing, ambitious, energetic and ready to learn students in my classroom! The students in my class come from a wide range of before school experience. Some of my students went to several years of preschool, others are with me as their first experience away from home. During the first quarter of school they have already shown great academic gains!
Kindergarten is an extraordinary place!
It is a place where I need to set the stage for the students to fall in love with learning! A kindergartner should want to go to school, and they should be excited to see what the day will bring when they come through my door! It is my goal to create hands-on engaging lessons that fuel their fire to learn the new academic standards during the year.
My Project
My students and I are very blessed to have numerous hands-on resources to cover our standards. Right now, items are stored in various places throughout the room without a consistent organizational system. The materials purchased with the donations to this project will help organize our materials for easy access. Tubs will be color coded by standard taught, materials needed can quickly be grabbed and used throughout the day. I am also anticipating that the consistent storage system will also help my students with the responsibility of picking up and putting materials away without much time wasted.
It is important to have my classroom materials stored in way that is efficient and accessible to all my students.
Not only does this save time but also keeps materials in a condition that allows them to be used year after year. I have stated on many of my Donor’s Choose projects that every minute matters in a classroom. This theme is consistent with this project as well. Every minute saved on locating materials and putting them away is another minute that can be spent on direct instruction.
