This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

A garden may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of an elementary school, but it's one of the places students can learn the most about the world around them, often without even realizing it. While we are lucky enough to already have a garden space, it is in need of some significant help after the pandemic and social distancing put a hold on anything non-essential.

With your help, we can get our garden up and going again!

We are in need of tools, hoses, water timers for over the summer watering, and seeds to get our veggies going strong. These vegetables will enable students to learn about biology, agriculture, and life skills to feed themselves in the future if they want.

In the long term, our goal is to turn our learning garden area into not only an herb and veggie garden, but to also include sensory garden areas, native pollinator plants, and even a carnivorous plant area to help us learn about plant adaptations and variations.
