I will be starting a new Center based Autism program in one of the elementary schools in our district this fall. I will be servicing a group of incredible elementary students who love and need to move and engage in sensory activities to regulate their bodies. When they are regulated they can learn. My students have high communication, social, and functioning needs.
Any donations to this project help meet their individual needs in our classroom, so they feel safe and secure, and experience success in school!
My Project
My students need sensory objects and flexible seating to help regulate their bodies in order to learn best. The wobble stools will be used during direct instruction and in our skills centers to help my movers attend and learn. My students require a lot of fidgets and hands-on sensory items to learn best in our classroom. The tools in the project will help my student engage in their learning.
Students will be using a functional academics program that will require the other items (cubbies, organizational materials, etc.)
Teaching unique and special learners with Autism requires a lot of structure and organization. The organizational materials in this project will color code my students' books and materials. When materials are organized and structured my students better understand their routines.
Lastly, the sensory items will support my students' needs for sensory input. They will also encourage and support social development and play.
