Help me give my students two noise-canceling headphones and a vibration plate that provide calm during overwhelming moments. These sensory tools help students regulate, reduce anxiety, and return to learning feeling safe again.

My Project

My students are some of the most resilient, joyful, and determined young people I have ever known. They are high school students with significant disabilities who work incredibly hard every day to communicate, build independence, and learn life skills that will help them succeed beyond the classroom. While many people see their challenges, I have the privilege of seeing their strengths, their perseverance, and the excitement they feel when they accomplish something they once thought was impossible.

For many of my students, the classroom can quickly become overwhelming.

Everyday sounds that most people hardly notice—the ringing bell, conversations, chairs moving, or a crowded hallway—can trigger sensory overload, anxiety, and dysregulation. When this happens, learning comes to a halt because their brains are focused on simply feeling safe again.

The noise-canceling headphones will provide immediate relief from overwhelming sounds, allowing students to calm their nervous systems, remain engaged in instruction, and participate more successfully in classroom activities. The vibration plate will offer calming sensory input that helps students regulate their bodies, reduce anxiety, and improve focus. Together, these resources will give students healthy, proactive ways to self-regulate so they can spend less time overwhelmed and more time learning, communicating, and building independence.

Every student deserves to feel safe, understood, and successful. With your support, you won't just be providing sensory equipment—you'll be allowing my students to experience calm, confidence, and the joy of learning.
