Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I'm proud to say that I work at the school that I attended as a child. It is a high poverty, Title I school in New York. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are faced with many challenges inside and outside the classroom.

They struggle personally and academically and have diverse needs. My class consists of general education students and children who receive special education services. Students living in homeless shelters, travel from other parts of the city to our school every day. Families that are new to the country (English New Language learners) have the added burden of learning to communicate in English. Despite the challenges they face daily, my students are filled with energy, are happy, and motivated to learn. They are scientists, singers, mathematicians, leaders, comedians, readers, writers, teachers, dancers, me, and you; they are everything!

My goal is to make my students' school environment comfortable and their learning experiences, creative and challenging to prepare them for the future. I want my students to feel safe from the outside world, so they can focus on learning and simply being kids.

My Project

What great performance doesn't include fog? The fog machine and fog juice requested for this project will be used throughout the year for our plays and talent shows. We have several plays put on by our theater group and shows performed for holidays or celebrations every year. Having this machine will make our performances more professional looking and exciting.

When the fog comes rolling in the audience knows something awesome is about to happen.

When paired with colorful lights and a great sound system, our shows will be top notch! Please consider donating to this project so my students can put on the best shows ever.
