When Given the Choice Between Right and Kind, Choose Kind.
My students need a class set of the book Wonder. I, also, have one particular student who would like the novel "It" by Stephen King.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our district is one of the many areas that was heavily affected by Hurricane Irma. After Irma, the teachers and staff did everything possible to motivate students to get back in the mindset of learning. We lost several students, because they had no homes to return to and had to move to either a different district or state altogether.
While Hurricane Maria did not affect us, in Southwest Florida, like it did Puerto Rico, many of our students have families and friends that were affected by the tragedy that swept over the entire country.
Furthermore, we have gained many students because of Maria, as families were forced to leave without looking back.
Families are still struggling to make their homes feel comfortable and safe after two devastating natural disasters. With tragedy in the back of our students' minds, and state testing quickly approaching, our students need motivation more than ever, to finish out this school year.
My Project
My students need an outstanding novel to encourage them to be kind to others. The novel Wonder is a best-seller and the students who have read it, love it. This novel, also, provides many other teaching tools like multiple points of view.
All students can find a love for reading if they find the right book.
While many of my students prefer grade-level books that have high interest by their peers, some students prefer a different genre and like to venture outside the norm. Stephen King's "IT" was a major motion picture movie recently released. All the students found interest in the movie, however, many of them did not know it was a novel, as well. One particular student of mine has asked if we could try to get this book donated.
