What's Your Story?
My students need two directional mics for use on cameras, to record the stories of their community, and their senior year of high school.
Is there a more emotionally turbulent time than senior year of high school? It is a time of fear, stress, jubilation, looking ahead while reconciling the past... We want to tell that story in our Multimedia class this year. In order to really capture life in the hallways, we need these mics!
My students are 12th graders at a charter school in California.
they are a diverse, smart, driven group who are really excited about this documentary because it's not been done before! They are in charge of everything from pre-production to post, marketing, and submission to festivals. They work really well together, and are loving this project ... except for our sound woes. Bad sound recording of that one great thing that happened means we can't use that shot in our film...
These microphones will enable us to confidently and actively record in the field with the cameras we are using. They will learn proper sound recording, and also not have to worry that sound is an issue! Producing a documentary teaches students how to record moments in time, tell stories that matter to them, and proper teamwork and workflow - huge lessons for anyone!
This donation will mean a that we are able to achieve our goal this year of producing and submitting to film festivals a completed, professional grade documentary about something most of us go through in our lives: that senior year when everything changes.
The film will be student produced and edited. Please help us realize our dream! Thank you!
