This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a Tile I school in a predominately Hispanic neighborhood. My students are amazing; they just haven't been afforded the opportunities of the other students in the district.

Currently, we are in a storage room that has been converted into a classroom.

Instructional resources are hard to come by, but we make the most with what we have. My heart breaks for these students considering their challenging learning environment. But, with your help, we can guide these wonderful learners to the path of success. Thanks!

My Project

As lower level readers, it's important that my students have reading materials that are engaging and relevant. The issues of Scope Magazine will not only help my students increase their reading skills and word knowledge, they will also make these kids more aware of the world around them.

Keeping up with current events makes these kids care and want to know more about their country and that will lead to an interest in their local community.

The issues are packed with wonderful articles that include Standards based exercises and assessments that will allow me to gauge progress towards word knowledge and greater understanding of the text.
