Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

In today's world, many children lack access to fresh, healthy foods and have limited understanding of where their food comes from. Additionally, students often have few opportunities to engage with nature and understand the importance of sustainable practices. A school garden at our school would address these issues by providing a hands-on learning environment where students can grow their own produce and learn about sustainable agriculture. The garden will include a variety of raised beds, a tool shed, traditional in-ground plots, and a small greenhouse. Students will have the opportunity to grow a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, such as tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, strawberries, and basil.

The garden will be integrated into the school curriculum through lessons on plant biology, nutrition, environmental science, and sustainability.

Teachers from various subjects will incorporate the garden into their lesson plans, providing students with interdisciplinary learning experiences.

Our school is a vibrant learning community dedicated to providing students with a well-rounded education. We propose to create a school garden to enhance our students' learning experiences, promote healthy eating habits, and encourage environmental stewardship.
