My Students

STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math as access points for guided inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experimental learning, persist in problem solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.

"I love coming to STEAM every week - we always get to do fun things." My students are the innovators, educations, leaders, and learners of the 21st century.

When my students leave STEAM, I want them to know that they have the power to make the world a better place.

My Project

STEAM students are constantly thinking through problems faced in the real world and coming up with creative solutions. They are encouraged to inquire, explore, and innovate. This year we will be building robots to model those that are working to clean up a toxic waste spill in Japan, we will be engineering model machines to rescue an animal in danger, and we will be designing an energy efficient device to assist workers in moving heavy objects a long distance.

I want to give them the opportunity to explore something brand new: programming robots.

With the opportunity to use a SPHERO, my students will have the chance to extend what the STEAM curriculum has to offer and explore an entirely new field that they may be interested in pursuing as they grow in their education.
