Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in East San Jose. A majority of my students are first-generation Americans with hardworking immigrant parents. Seventy percent of the students at my school are receiving free or reduced-priced lunch.
I teach a wonderful group of Kindergarten students.
My students are hard-working and enthusiastic learners. They are easily motivated and enjoy attending school every day. They are always excited to try and learn new concepts. My students inspire me every day to be a better teacher.
My Project
Supplies are always needed in my classroom, more so towards the end of the school year. I am requesting for everyday school supplies such as color copier paper, large writing tablets, pencils and some art supplies such as tape and brads. I use the color copier paper to differentiate worksheets for a student who is at different learning levels. Students who need more challenging worksheets use color copies while the other students use the white copies. My students also need pencils for writing and math activities. Our current pencils are so short, students can't even hold them correctly. The erasers are also all worn out. Without your support, my students will not have the materials they need to learn.
