This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Next year, we will be learning about history that happened in our world. This year was American history. My goal is to obtain books that are not only interesting, but help teach world history in a way that my students are able to understand what they are being taught. Since my students are in a specialized unit they are able to receive more individualized instruction geared to their cognitive abilities.
Books that have been successful in our classroom are the "I Survived" books and the "Who, What, Where" books.
Our students are special in that they like to learn. Their cognitive skills lie in the area of second grade to fifth grade, yet they are jr. and high schoolars. Our students are mostly visual learners, thus pictures are important to them. These books have shown success for our student the last few years in teaching American history, thus I am seeking the same type of book to teach world history.
