This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Imagine how grateful we were when a friend of mine donated a Canon Rebel XTI camera to our yearbook class! We now need a way to get the pictures from the camera!
My yearbook students this year are a wonderful group of juniors and seniors who are trying to create an amazing yearbook with limited supplies.
Many of my students come from extremely difficult backgrounds and face many obstacles just getting to school. In their neighborhoods, graduating from high school isn't a "given" it is an accomplishment. My students want to celebrate and document their success in their high school yearbook.
My Project
A friend of mine donated her old Canon Rebel XTi camera to my students and we need a way to get the pictures off the camera. The camera uses a CF card and we need a reader so we can retrieve the pictures and put them in our yearbook. We also do not have a designated yearbook computer, so we need an external hard drive to store the yearbook photos. Finally, we need a tripod because we are going to try to take all of the individual portraits ourselves and we need to steady the camera.
This is only my second year teaching the yearbook class and we are working hard to provide our students with lasting memories.
Graduating from high school isn't always easy, and I want my students to look back on their yearbooks with a sense of pride.
