Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Educating students and adults on Social and Emotional Learning is an important life skill. Post-pandemic, many of our students are struggling with their emotions, as a result, we have seen a decrease in student motivation and an increase in negative attention-seeking behaviors. As educators, we know the importance of supporting our students by any means possible, which sometimes may require helping students change their mindsets in order for them to achieve their personal goals and manage their emotions.
Social and Emotional Learning is the process through which students acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals and make responsible and caring decisions.
The iPad and speaker will be used for sensory, calming and yoga activities. The yoga mats will be used to increase social and emotional skills, awareness, expressions of emotions and reduce anxiety through stretches, mediation, and calming sounds.
This project will provide me with an opportunity to support our ninth-grade class by providing lessons in Social and Emotional Learning and mini-yoga sessions. By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase student awareness, knowledge, skills, and motivation, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement and support them on their Road to Graduation.
