Because of your generosity, we are able to better protect and maintain the technology that students use during class through the addition of MacBook and AirPods cases. These materials have helped keep our equipment organized, safe, and available for instruction, allowing students to focus on learning rather than dealing with damaged or unavailable devices.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were excited to know that the equipment they use regularly would be better protected and cared for. They immediately understood the importance of taking responsibility for classroom resources. One of my favorite moments was watching students take ownership of organizing and caring for the technology they use for fitness tracking, health assignments, and classroom activities. The protective cases have already helped reduce wear and tear on our devices, allowing us to spend more time engaged in learning and less time addressing equipment issues.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also had a positive impact by helping students stay focused, energized, and ready to participate in physical activities and classroom discussions. These resources have contributed to a more structured and supportive learning environment where students can fully engage in lessons about fitness, wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using technology to monitor fitness goals, track personal progress, and explore topics related to physical and mental wellness. These resources will help support future projects focused on goal setting, healthy habits, and lifelong fitness. Thank you for helping create an environment where students can stay active, organized, and motivated to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1778870731335,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-daily-fitness-and-healthy-hab/10282789/","projectTitle":"Supporting Daily Fitness and Healthy Habits in Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cruz Irimia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9818584_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y443&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770915992252","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9818584"},{"teacherId":9818584,"projectId":10158751,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, this project has had a meaningful impact on both my teaching and my students. The new laptop has become an essential professional tool that allows me to fully participate in mental health and social-emotional learning trainings, organize resources efficiently, and create lessons that better support the emotional wellbeing of my students.\r\n\r\nUsing these new resources, I have been able to design and improve Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities that are more engaging, relevant, and supportive for students in Physical Education and Health classes. I now have reliable access to professional development materials, research, and instructional tools that help me integrate stress management, emotional awareness, resilience, and healthy coping strategies into daily lessons. This has elevated my teaching by helping me approach student wellness in a more intentional and informed way.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite classroom moments happened during a lesson focused on stress management and emotional regulation. Students participated in a reflection activity where they discussed healthy ways to cope with pressure both inside and outside of school. Several students opened up about how overwhelmed they sometimes feel balancing academics, sports, family responsibilities, and friendships. Seeing students feel comfortable enough to share their thoughts and support one another reminded me why mental health education is so important. It created a classroom environment where students felt heard, respected, and connected.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I am excited to continue growing as an educator in the areas of mental health awareness, trauma-informed teaching, and student wellness. I am especially looking forward to teaching more lessons connected to Lauryn's Law and continuing to help students build lifelong skills related to emotional health, communication, self-confidence, and resilience. Your support has helped create opportunities for meaningful conversations and stronger connections with students that extend far beyond the gymnasium.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my classroom, my professional growth, and most importantly, my students.","fullyFundedDate":1774474436276,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-the-whole-child-mind-and-bod/10158751/","projectTitle":"Supporting the Whole Child: Mind and Body","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cruz Irimia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9818584_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y443&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770915992252","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9818584"},{"teacherId":9690075,"projectId":10093803,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, \"Because They Belong: Celebrating Our Multilingual Graduates.\" Your generosity helped us create a meaningful way to celebrate our multilingual learners and recognize the incredible effort they put into learning multiple languages while succeeding academically. Many of them shared stories about their home languages and how they help their families translate or communicate in everyday life. During our classroom activities, students used the resources to reflect on their multilingual journeys and celebrate the hard work that brought them to this important milestone. It was a powerful moment for them to see their languages and cultures honored in our school community.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students feel seen, valued, and motivated to continue growing as multilingual learners. While many donors use smartphones in daily life, in our classroom the iPhone has become a powerful learning tool. Students use it to record short fitness and mindfulness-based movement reflections, helping them slow down and intentionally notice how physical activity affects their stress levels, mood, and confidence. Instead of focusing on performance or comparison, the technology allows them to review their experiences, reflect on emotional regulation strategies, and engage in thoughtful discussions about the connection between movement and mental wellness. It has transformed fitness class into a space for self-awareness and personal growth.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is seeing their own progress — not in how they look, but in how they feel. They are empowered by having a shared device that gives everyone equal access to record, reflect, and express themselves. For many of my adolescents, who navigate high levels of stress and pressure, this structured opportunity to connect movement with emotional well-being is something entirely new. I have seen quieter students open up through guided video reflections and students who often struggle with anxiety begin to recognize breathing and movement as tools they can use independently. The iPhone has become more than a piece of technology; it is a bridge helping students build lifelong coping skills, confidence, and a healthier relationship with both their bodies and their emotions.","fullyFundedDate":1770771079357,"projectUrl":"project/moving-for-mental-wellness-using-fitnes/10080240/","projectTitle":"Moving for Mental Wellness: Using Fitness to Manage Stress","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cruz Irimia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9818584_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y443&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770915992252","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9818584"},{"teacherId":6107214,"projectId":9937179,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation. The skull model with the brain and the model with the squishy organs helped them understand how the skeletal system protects vital organs. They also had fun putting the parts together. By using devices and fitness apps, students can track their activity, monitor progress, and see real data connected to cardiorespiratory endurance, strength, and overall wellness. Technology also helps keep students engaged, motivated, and accountable, turning physical activity into an interactive learning experience that supports both academic and personal growth.\r\n\r\nStudents are most excited about how these tools make class feel more professional, organized, and motivating. The portable speaker adds energy and focus to workouts, making class more enjoyable. The charging station ensures devices are always ready, which students appreciate because it allows them to consistently use fitness apps and track their progress. Overall, students feel that these tools show that their learning and well-being matter, which increases enthusiasm and participation.\r\n\r\nStudents who were previously less confident or less motivated in fitness activities have especially benefited. Some students feel more comfortable focusing on personal progress rather than comparing themselves to others, and the technology allows them to do just that.
