Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My name is DeAndre Brannon and I am the music teacher at our school in North Carolina and I am in need of help purchasing drums and percussion instruments for my amazing music students. I want to help my students explore their love of music and help create lifelong musical appreciation. Learning through music has so many benefits and reaches so many students and I would love to be able to help them explore the world of music any way that I can.

Students benefit from drums in music class for several reasons:

1. **Rhythm development:** Drums help students understand and internalize rhythm, a fundamental aspect of music.

2. **Coordination:** Playing drums improves hand-eye coordination and motor skills as students learn to coordinate their hands and feet.

3. **Teamwork:** Drumming often involves playing in groups, teaching students the importance of teamwork and listening to others while playing.

4. **Creativity:** Drumming encourages students to express themselves creatively through improvisation and composition.

5. **Cultural appreciation:** Learning drums exposes students to different musical traditions and cultures from around the world, fostering cultural appreciation and understanding.

Being able to purchase these drums and percussion instruments will help my students make awesome music and feel the BEAT of their love of music at school!
