This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The members of the Key Club have demonstrated that they are committed to making a difference in the community. The HS Key Club students want to reach out to as many families as they possibly can with this project.

Many students live in extended family homes and have lost family members to COVID-19 or their parents have lost employment and are struggling to make ends meet.

After the recent events in the news regarding fires, the students want to make sure this doesn't happen in their community. We are hoping to run this project all year and continue to spread awareness.

Students have expressed the stress they are feeling at home with struggling to make ends meet, taking care of sick family members, while trying to focus on school work.

These supplies will help to alleviate some of that stress and make them feel safer at home.

My Project

The WHS Key Club members want to make sure fellow students have a safe home environment. Many students are living in a small space with an extended family. Given the recent devastating fires in the news the members of Key Club want to make sure fellow students in the community are informed and have the tools to feel safe.

Providing smoke detectors and providing educational information on the importance of fire safety is key to this project for the Key Club to reach families in the community.

This will help students to feel safe and secure at home as they study or have to transition to remote learning.
