My Project
When I was an elementary student, I was never interested in reading nonfiction books. From what I remember, most non-fiction books were what I considered to be "boring." When I had to do a report or conduct research, I remember browsing through pages of text that was written on a level I couldn't understand and little to no visuals to accompany the words on the page.
Nonfiction for kids these days has come SO far! As a teacher, I am so grateful for amazing nonfiction series like National Geographic Kids. These books are filled with tons of incredible photographs, maps, charts, diagrams, and so much more to make the text easy to understand and interesting for kids. My students just cannot get enough of these books!
I recently found out that I will be teaching 3 sections of ELA next year instead of the 2 sections I am used to this year. So I will be in need of a few extra books to add to my book club sets. All of the books I am requesting will be used as part of a small group book club where groups of students will read the same book and get together to discuss and share what they have read.
