My students range from 3 to 5 years old. Our students come from low-income homes with a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds, and I also have ESL students. We work hard to close the achievement gap in our area.
Our children love coming to school and being able to let their imaginations shine.
They are amazed by all of the new and interesting things that they are exposed to in our classroom. Our children are below the poverty level and many do not get an opportunity at home to have the many experiences that they can get in our learning environment. With the many backgrounds that our children come from, we want them all to have a strong start in their education.
My children take great pride in their learning. They want to succeed and grow. Some work hard for even the simplest achievements. They feel like they are reaching for the stars and beyond.
My Project
I want to give our kids more ways to build and learn about communities. The community block set will let them build roads and communities, along with the airplane and school bus. Many of our kids may have seen some of these places in their own community.
By providing the materials to use with block play, they will get a sense that they are all a part of a community!
If they understand that we all have to take care of our community together, then they will take pride in taking care of the classroom as well as their community.
