We're Batty Over the Environment!

My students need resources to effectively learn facts about the bat in order to conduct their DPC project of providing more habitats for bats in our area.

My Students

My environmental team students are going batty over bats in our community. They are committed to helping add bat habitats to our area and on educating others about white nose syndrome. Please help with our Disney Planet Challenge project for 2012-2013.

My students have all applied to become members of our school's environmental team.

They have been working hard to create a fantastic and useful Disney Planet Challenge project. The students will be working with local biologists to help monitor the bat population in KY. My students attend a National Blue Ribbon school and work hard to meet their goals. They are involved in community service projects and this will be the fourth year for participating in the DPC.

My Project

I am requesting a bat bioplast mount and a bat skeleton. These will be used by the students to learn about the structures of the bat so that they can effectively understand how bats survive and which bat houses would be the best for our community. In addition, I am requesting 10 nonfiction books about bats. My students will use these in our classroom reference center to conduct research projects and book studies to deepen their knowledge of this unique mammal.

Our environmental team has placed nationally the past 3 years in the Disney Planet Challenge.

The team has already began the project for next year. These resources are essential for a successful project to help add bat habitats to our community.
