I teach a wonderful group of very active third graders. They all come from varied backgrounds. I have 14 boys and 7 girls. They all love to learn and make me smile every day. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, alternative seating, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They love hands on activities to help keep them engaged in learning.
My Project
When students have a chance to move it helps students be more engaged and focused on the task. This flexible seating options give students some choice in picking an option that is best for him or her to learn. The wobble seats and stretchy bands will give my students who struggle with sitting still to be able to move without distracting the class. It will help them be more engaged in their learning.
The place value disks will help my students understand number sense as they learn to add and subtract larger numbers.
The place value disk help them see the processing of regrouping with larger numbers. It gives the students a concrete way to understand place value.
