Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a Title 1 school and are talented and enthusiastic. Our school system's budget has become more limited recently. These cuts could affect my wonderful students' ability to have access to resources they deserve. They deserve every advantage they can get and they have shown over and over again that their development flourishes through the arts. My students are hard-working and compassionate and enjoy sharing their musical performances with others. They especially enjoy learning about other school topics through the arts.

My Project

My students love to create and perform! With access to recorders generously gifted through Donors Choose, they have been able to really grow as musicians. With a bass xylophone, they could do even more!

My students need access to a quality bass instrument to create harmonies for classroom performances!

A bass xylophone would allow even my youngest students the ability to create accompaniments and harmony for the pieces we perform every day. I also have many learners with special needs who greatly enjoy and prefer a low bass sound over the higher treble range and would thrive with a bass instrument. Xylophones are staple instruments in many General Music classrooms. We would love to have one! Please consider donating a bass xylophone to our classroom!
