Wellness Through Their Eyes: A Service Project Using Innovative Technology

My Project

This project empowers students to lead wellness-based service activities in their schools and communities while using Meta Glasses to capture real-time, behind-the-scenes footage. Students will create short videos and photo stories that reflect their experiences and promote wellness. These stories will inspire others and serve as tools for peer education through a digital storytelling series titled Through Our Eyes: Youth Wellness in Action.

The initiative centers on student leadership, community service, and collective care.

While students benefit personally through reflection, healing, and skill-building, their work also uplifts peers, engages families, and models healthy habits. Through activities like peer-led mindfulness sessions, group journaling, and mental health check-ins, students will create inclusive spaces and demonstrate what it means to live well.

The content they produce, edited and narrated from a first-person perspective, will be shared both online and in the community. Students will organize showcases at local libraries, recreation centers, and schools, as well as distribute QR-coded flyers and posters in trusted neighborhood hubs such as barbershops, salons, and cafes.

Additionally, students will host Pop-Up Wellness Corners at school events and neighborhood gatherings to engage people of all ages with interactive activities and storytelling. Their content will also be shared through newsletters, digital platforms, and youth networks to expand access and visibility.

This student-led campaign will benefit a wide range of people, including peers in after-school programs, families, community members, and youth workers. It will offer insight, inspiration, and replicable models for integrating wellness into everyday life. By combining service, storytelling, and technology, students will not only participate in wellness but lead a movement that brings it to life in the spaces where it is needed most.
