Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As the Social and Emotional Wellness Specialist in my school, the completion of this virtual course would allow me to better serve my Baltimore City students, families, and community by offering intentional wellness, social and emotional skills, and mindfully relevant support for their diverse needs. In addition, I will become a certified yoga instructor and become qualified to lead wellness classes to larger populations in need.

Implementing these skills and practices into our middle and high school community would allow students to gain emotional regulation skills, stress reduction skills, and enhanced concentration and focus techniques.

The skills acquired through yoga and SEL are not only beneficial during high school but also essential for success in college, career, and personal life. By equipping students with tools for self-awareness, resilience, and interpersonal competence, I will empower them to navigate challenges and thrive in various contexts.
