This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have often used the Elephant & Piggie books to help students learn about compassion and inclusivity. If you have never heard of these amazing titles, please start reading them today! The author, Mo Willems, has a knack for making every story of Elephant & Piggie not only engaging but tug at the heartstrings of readers. Each title includes a short lesson on what it means to be a good friend, neighbor, classmate, and just human being.

Reading should always be fun!

Along with the Elephant & Piggies titles, I was introduced to the Little Spot series by a colleague and I immediately fell in love with these titles as well. The kit that I would like to order includes small plush characters that would only add icing to our literacy cake! Primary students love to interact with what they are reading with the use of manipulatives or character plushes like the kit provides. These often helps students with retelling and sequencing comprehension skills and are especially usefull for Multilanguage Learners and Special Needs student populations.
