My Students

I am so fortunate to work with the students that walk into my room every day. They are respectful, motivated, and open. There is not a young person in my class who is unwilling to give their best on any given day. Students feel safe to express themselves creatively and hold themselves to a standard that our school would griot, "Second to None." Our strengths shine through as a team. There is a lot of love and support in the room even amidst strangers. They all make me so proud.

My Project

The art classroom at our high school serves as a space where the student body of 1100+ students may creatively express themselves and explore the opportunity of a future in a creative career. In order for students in our Title I school to be fully immersed in a studio experience, they need adequate fixtures to work from. Presently, students are working from small conference tables that do not allow them to sit comfortably and manipulate their design space. With proper drafting tables, students in Art I & II, AP Art, and Talented Art classes will be able to sit, stand, and adjust their workspace to accommodate physical positions and any material that they elect to work from.
