Welcoming Classroom: A Place for Students be Ready to Learn

My students need a fan, light filters, and an essential oil diffuser to create a classroom where they feel welcomed, comfortable and safe. This fosters an ideal learning environment. These items, especially the fluorescent light covers, will take away the institutional feel that older classrooms have!

My Students

Middle school is a time of great stress and challenges as students are not only learning more academics but navigating the social and emotional changes that teenagers go through. Students need to learn how to function in society and how to manage their social and emotional well-being.

Some are eager to learn while some hope to just get through the day.

Some come from supportive families while some don't know what will be waiting for them when they get home. Either way, they are all "my kids." Our school is quite large, and it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle, which is why I work extra hard to make sure each student knows how much they matter in the world. I thank you for considering a contribution towards materials and supplies for my classroom.

My Project

Classrooms in schools build in the 60s are cold and sterile. The lights are too bright and cause headaches and it can get oppressively hot. The use of the Essential Oil Diffuser, hanging plants, Hurricane Box Fan, and the Educational Insights Fluorescent Light Filters will allow for students to be in a calming and welcoming classroom environment where they can continue to work on developing their mindset and executive functioning skills. With our Intervention & Enrichment and Advisory programs, we are able to help students develop coping skills needed to be successful in the real world but there are ways to make a classroom more welcoming and calming. The Educational Insights Fluorescent Light Filters will help take away the headaches caused by the lights by creating more natural lighting. The essential oils diffuser will help calm students, clear unpleasant odors, boost mood and sharpen mental focus.

Strong mental and emotional health allows for optimal learning.

Being able to recognize stress, deal with it and move on is not innate, but learned behaviors and skills that are vital to children's ability to successfully use these skills independently in the future. Your donation will allow me to help create a place for students to learn not only academics, but life skills they will need in the future.
