Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students are of ELL population. Many have parents that do not speak English, let alone, have a third grade education. I love my students and I love the way they want to improve all that is given to them on our campus. I see many ways the students are eager to help each other when one of them is stuck or can't find a solution, they are true givers and wonderful role models to each other.

My Project

Many of the students are of poverty. Many don't have pictures of themselves. It is so exciting to see their expressions when they share their own portrait to family members. Their creativity is truly inspiring, to see, when they see what they accomplished in their drawing. They are able to share one of their first pieces of art with their parents, siblings and other teachers. What better keep sake to have for the beginning of the year. My room is filled with twenty five individuals, and they get to share their individuality with all of us in the room. So exciting.
