There is never a dull minute, as my class of 18 uniquely individual 5 and 6-year-old children are actively participating in our learning environment.
My class has diverse interests, learning styles, and developmental levels. We have students with a variety of educational backgrounds and needs which impacts our daily routines and learning tasks. We have worked hard to create a sense of classroom community and encourage friendship, trust, kindness, and compassion. We also strive daily to increase independence and problem-solving skills with each child.
Our district has a shared commitment for differentiated education, dedication to meet each child at their social, emotional, and academic level. We create a culture for learning in our community and school to reinforce skills throughout our day to support individual growth with high expectations to develop lifelong learners.
My Project
If you think of the feeling you get when you walk into your favorite restaurant or business, many times it reflects the environment. It is the colors, sounds, scents, and activities that help create these positive feelings. It is important for me to continue to update our classroom to create a welcoming environment for every student that walks through my doors! These flexible seating options will allow children to choose a seating that is more suitable for them and their learning style! These surf seats allow a few options for seat work and core strength. I am excited to introduce these to my class and teach them how they can be used as a learning tool! The cleaning supplies will help the students take pride in keeping our environment clean and germ free. This helps to teach responsibility!

This is part of our district vision statement and words that help guide our schools and educators. I will be using these supplies to update our classroom. This project will add to our flexible seating and also give students responsibility for cleaning and keeping our classroom a tidy place to learn!
