Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher in a general education class of 24 students. I want to provide my students with a wonderful learning environment full of hands-on experiences that encourage them to use their creative minds while learning the curriculum and core concepts.
My school is located in a high poverty neighborhood and a lack of funding requires that teachers spend their own money to provide many of the resources for their students.
My students are enthusiastic learners who deserve the best education and materials to support their learning.
My Project
I am asking for the set of name tags, to use to help organize my students into teams during independent work time. I love the little pocket these name tags have. It makes it easy for me to put in a shape or a color and the children learn how to sort and organize their small learning team very quickly until it is routine. The twistable crayons and colored pencils are a wonderful addition to our art boxes. My students love using colored pencils to illustrate their journals. They are able to draw with more detail, and they are wonderful for the teacher too since you don't have to keep sharpening them at the end of each day! The thin-line white board markers are great for us to use during phonics lessons on our write and white boards. The thinner markers allow them to use the lines on our boards to improve letter formation. They are really motivated to write when they get to use these special colorful markers.
Whether it be the lack of funding, budget cuts, or the increase of class size, public school teachers face many challenges.
