My Students
My students are a diverse bunch of caring and curious 15-17 year-olds from an urban high school in Indiana. They are in an Early College High School Cohort, which generally means they are prospective first-generation college students.
My students are learning the skills and gaining the confidence necessary to be successful in college. They seek challenges and opportunities to learn about themselves and the world within and outside our community. They are ambitious, hopeful, and excited about their futures. I love them!
My Project
Like students and teachers across the nation, we can't wait to return to the classroom. In addition to being able to see one another's faces again, we are eager to get back into a routine and back into independent reading!
Help me welcome students back to our classroom and library with brand new, high-interest books! Through book talks, independent reading, and book clubs, students are reclaiming their autonomy and voices as readers. Our goal is to increase reading endurance to prepare for college, however, along the way, we are having fun creating a community of readers. The excitement is palpable and contagious! I miss my students, their energy, and the momentum we are building.
