This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) students are 6th - 8th-grade boys and girls who are a part of the growing family of schools at F.N. Middle school. The school is in an urban neighborhood and comprises of a diverse student body.

Regardless of their career path, our students want to thrive not only academically, but also of equal importance - emotionally.

They yearn to blossom into the creative, resilient, caring and mature young adults they were meant to be.

My Project

Our Emotions grow us up. This project will provide a space for students to experience and express their emotions.

In this calm, soothing, supervised space, students can have access to their feelings and express them without being penalized.

They can sit quietly, draw, read, listen to music, write or talk to an adult about their emotions. In this room there are no "bad" feelings. Only supportive and healthy ways to express the feelings that are totally normal and fully human. Emotions and feelings that course through each and everyone of us.
