This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my Fire Academy students is their drive, discipline, and heart. Every day, they show up ready to push themselves beyond their limits, not just for themselves but for the dream of serving their community one day as firefighters. They are teenagers who willingly embrace a paramilitary-style program, waking up early, enduring tough workouts, and holding each other accountable—all because they believe in something bigger than themselves.

Weighted vests will give my students the chance to train more like real firefighters.

These vests will safely simulate the heavy gear they will one day wear on the job. With them, my cadets will:

Build endurance and strength to carry equipment and wear turnout gear.

Improve their conditioning for high-stress, real-life emergency situations.

Learn teamwork and resilience as they encourage each other through tough training.

Each vest is not just a piece of equipment—it’s a tool that brings them one step closer to their career goals. With these resources, my students won’t just be learning about firefighting, they’ll be living it, training their minds and bodies for the future ahead.
