This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Weighted blankets and stuffed animals have been proven to reduce anxiety and stress for children and adults. In the classroom setting, the use of a weighted object can support attention and focus while reducing a student's internal need to escape from work by getting out of their seat or requesting to leave the classroom.

My goals for this project is to provide my students with options that are not currently available in my special education classroom.

For many children, the feeling of being hugged, squeezed or held can be a welcome experience, allowing the student to put their efforts into learning.
