FES is a K-8 school in North East Montana on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. As a P.E., mental health teacher, and athletic director I would like to provide a small weight room for our students.
We already have free weights and work out bands but are in need to some bench press benches, bars, and weight plates.
A space that I feel would really benefit our students it would consist of 2 bench press benches, 2 bars, free weight plates, as well as some odds and ends such as the mats for the floor.
These items would help our school and our students because weightlifting is beneficial to overall health. When students are healthy mentally and physically they learn better. Furthermore, being a mom of boys I know that boys need this outlet. When boys hit 6th-8th and their hormones start going their bodies need to release this energy. Not only could we do weight lifting as an elective but we could also use it as an after school program. Recently I have been taking a group of boys about 6 miles away, on the bus, to do a weight lifting class and I can't even begin to express how beneficial it is for them.
My goal for this project is to create a small weight room within our school that students and staff can use. Our students here at Frontier are special because they work really hard in athletics and academics. Students who come to FES want to be pushed mentally and physically, they choose our school because we set high standards of excellence.
