My students need 2 sets of brass mass weights, 2 bathroom scales, and 4 spring scales to use in the math center when working with the weight of objects.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach all general subjects in 2nd grade in a rural, low income area. My students do not have a lot of learning opportunities and appreciate any exposure to something new.
When learning about weight and participating in centers, my students are short of materials they need to accurately and efficiently learn about weight. Having mass weights will help the accuracy of their measurements and give them authentic opportunities to learn about weight.
Receiving these scales and weights will benefit my students in both math and science. They will have real experience using the equipment and therefore make their learning last a lifetime.
Your help will ensure that my students have the equipment they need in order to do their best learning in math and science.
