My Project

The second graders at my school need a classroom subscription to this non-fiction resource. Scholastic News allows our students to visit and learn about the world around them. What you know about, you will care about! Every Friday, we get out our new Scholastic News for the week. It is always fascinating and engaging for our students. First, the video introduces the topic. Next, is the vocabulary, which always includes pictures. Third we practice our reading or we read along with the online issue. Finally a skill sheet. Lastly, it is a super fun, engaging game.

My students love this weekly lesson and enjoy learning the new information that comes with it.

We use Scholastic News once a week in my classroom. The students are always engaged and learn so many skills weekly. They love Scholastic News and look forward to each issue. Each works on students' reading and several Reading Skills. It is a win-win because the students love it and are learning simultaneously.
